Southeast Kentucky Community and Technical College offers a Certificate and Diploma for medical assistants. The program aims at preparing and encouraging students to take up the medical assisting registry or certification exam. They believe in building a positive relationship with the healthcare industry to aid the education of aspiring medical assistants. SKCTC is accredited by the Commission on Colleges, Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.

A one-year MA Diploma, Certificate, and a two year AAS degree are offered by the Owensboro Community and Technical College. The college prepares its students for joining the workforce immediately after graduation. The associate’s degree can be completed within 16 months, while the diploma takes less time. The retention rate for MAs in 2020 was 100%, the cumulative rate is 93.10%.

An 11-month medical assisting Diploma along with a two year AAS degree program is offered by the Hopkinsville Community College. The course provided by the college includes an introduction to medical assisting, laboratory techniques, dosage calculations, clinical procedures, medical insurance, pharmacology, along with practicum, and more.

Bluegrass Community and Technical College offer two certificate programs, an 18-month diploma, and a two-year associate’s degree for medical assistants. BCTC is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) upon the recommendation of the Medical Assisting Education Review Board (MAERB). Upon graduating, the students will be eligible to take up the national certification exam for becoming a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) offered by the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA).

Three certificate programs, along with a diploma and a two year AAS degree for medical assistants is offered by the Hazard Community and Technical College. To graduate, students must earn a grade ‘C’ or higher. Topics like anatomy, medical terminology, medical law and ethics, laboratory procedures, pharmacology, and administrative procedures are covered in the course.

Gateway Community and Technical College offer an associate’s degree, and a Certificate for medical assistants. Upon graduating, the students will be able to take up the national certification examination through the American Medical Technologists (AMT). The college offers daytime and evening sequence program. A grade ‘C’ or a GPA of ‘2.0’ or higher is required to graduate. During the last semester, an externship is also provided by the college for medical assistants.

A Clinical Medical Assistant program is offered by Western Kentucky University for those who wish a career in the medical industry. This program includes 140 hours of in-class lectures followed by practical knowledge. WKU is focused on preparing students for a variety of responsibilities in both clinical and clerical settings. The course includes critical areas and topics like in office/clinical responsibilities, patient confidentiality, legal aspects of healthcare, recording and taking vital signs, review, and administration of medication, and more.

Accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges, Ashland Community and Technical College offer an associate’s degree program for medical assistants. A grade ‘C’ or a cumulative grade of ‘2.0’ or better is required for the students to graduate. Basic anatomy, oral communication, and social/behavioral science are some of the topics included in the course.

A diploma and an associate degree in medical assistance are offered by Henderson Community College. Students are exposed to learn the basics of medical assisting education, including administrative, clinical, and laboratory skills. HCC’s medical assistant program is accredited by the CAAHEP. Upon graduating, the students are eligible to take the national certification exam through the AAMA.

Jefferson Community and Technical College’s Associate of Applied Science degree for medical assistants can be completed within two years. This postsecondary institution is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and schools. On the other hand, the diploma program is accredited by the CAAHEP. A total of 60-68 credit hours are required for the students to graduate.

Somerset Community College offers a diploma for MAs. Graduates will be eligible to take up the RMA certificate examination provided by the AMT. Students must earn a grade ‘C’ or higher to graduate. A clinical externship is also provided to the students by SCC. A total of 46-53 credit hours is required for the diploma.

A 40-weeks diploma and a 1605 hours associate’s degree are offered by ATA college for MAs. The college aims at providing more of the practical training for a better learning experience with the help of its highly professional and dedicated staff. Graduates will be able to take up the CMA certification exam offered by the AAMA. Graduates of the associate course will be eligible for Phlebotomy Technician Certification through the Nation Health Career Association (NHA).

Sullivan University’s medical assisting diploma daytime accelerated program can be completed within 12 months and the evening program within 18 months. On the other hand, the associate’s degree takes up to 64 weeks. Students need a total of 34 and 64 credit hours, respectively, to graduate. Students need to select one additional class, either from the humanities or fine arts category, which is required along with the general education classes. The course includes topics like communication, medical terminology, EKG, CPR, pharmacology, and more.
